Late October music news from Blowtorch Records

New releases, new merch in the shop and gigs aplenty

New EP from The Rivers

South Wales' The Rivers have released their second EP, further to the brilliant Life In General in 2019. Trailed by lead single Halfcut, it includes four other tracks - Call, Persevere, Long Road From Nowhere and Tough Time for Dreamers. Now bolstered by second guitarist Lloyd Evans, they have lost nothing of their melodic story-telling style of songwriting.

They have live gigs coming up Nov 4th in The Moon Cardiff and Nov 6th at the Super Marine in Newport.

Latest single from Paper Tigers

Belfast's Paper Tigers are back with their fourth single Blue Light Trails which is the lead track from the upcoming EP Graceless. Their first release since last year's No Ghosts Walk, it is a hook-filled number, still rocking but with a poppier edge. Check out the hey, hey, heys!

They also have a UK tour starting on Nov 3 in Jimmy's Liverpool with further dates in Manchester, Northampton, Rotherham, Sheffield and Glasgow.

Live gigs

From famine to feast but no complaints. Yes live gigs are happening - even in Ireland.

Our latest blog (linked at the foot of this blog) is a review by Julia Mason of Turnstiles' final gig of their UK tour in The Golden Lion, Todmorden. They have more live gigs this week with the return of their Free House event in Galway on Friday, KFest in Kerry on Saturday and headlining Dublin's Workman's Club on Sunday.

Paper Tigers, The Rivers, Ash Red and Punching Peaches all have live shows in the next month.

There's some lovely additions in the Blowtorch shop this week.

First up (pic left) is the new cassette sampler from Jagged Baptist club feat. ten tracks curated by the Club's frontman Blake Stokes. All wrapped up in a beautifully designed sleeve.

We also have an ace special offer of a Turnstiles t-shirt and 7" vinyl EP for only €20. Amazing value.
