Dublin punks celebrate 40 years of outsider status with new CD and vinyl releases
Paranoid Visions are Dublin’s longest surviving punk band, formed in the Irish capital in 1981. Inexplicably, they have managed to survive 40 years apart from the music industry (as opposed to being a part of the music industry). Fiercely independent and embracing the DIY ethos of early punk rock, the band has existed through stubbornness and will continue to do so until the desire to express themselves and their music, opinions, lyrics and art has ceased.
The 40th anniversary of their first gigs and releases will be celebrated over the next 12 months, starting with the 40 years in 45 minutes gig at the Button factory 10th December and with this four part release FORTY YEARS AND STILL NOT TAME.
The collection features:
FORTY: a red vinyl 12” and CD featuring a new track and 2022 recordings of tracks from the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s along with inserts chronicling some of each decade's pivotal news stories
YEARS: A double CD featuring one track from every release in the band's history, spanning from the 1983 demo tapes to 2021’s Diverse Reality.
AND: A blue vinyl 7” and CD featuring Steve Ignorant with Paranoid Visions on the A side and Paranoid Visions featuring John Robb on the B side
STILL NOT TAME: a double CD of the first 3 demo tapes releases in 1983 and 1984
Blowtorch Records are collaborating on the vinyl elements of the releases.
