The alternative guitar music scene in Ireland has never been stronger and 2025 has seen a slew of releases from Dublin, Galway and Cork bands. We bring you seven of the hottest new Irish post punk acts.

  1. SPRINTS - All That Is Over

Visceral Dublin noise rock four piece SPRINTS have followed their brilliant debut album Letter To Self with their second album All That Is Over released on September 26 via City Slang Records and Sub Pop. As the NME review says "It’s good to hear Sprints develop on All That Is Over, but to do so without extinguishing that fire is the fine line they walk." SPRINTS cover photo credit David Willis.

  1. Slyrydes - What Happens If You Get Happy?

Galway chaotic punks Slyrydes' deal in a raw, unfiltered brand of melodic noise which earned them critical acclaim for a string of singles exploring mental health, addiction and the dark edges of modern life. After years of personal growth and collective survival, their debut album What Happens If You Get Happy? was released on July 28. Available to order now on Blowtorch Records black 12" vinyl.

  1. Nerves - Iarmhaireacht

Following debut EP Glórach, Mayo/Wicklow noise rock outfit Nerves have released their second EP Iarmhaireacht. Across five coruscating tracks Nerves develop their musical entropy and channel the existential feeling of isolation caused by watching loved ones leave for greener pastures, and the substance-based self-destruction it can induce. Available to order now on Blowtorch Records white 12" vinyl.

  1. Adore - BITER

After getting their start on Blowtorch Records, Adore signed to UK label Big Scary Monsters and have now released their debut EP BITER. The Galway/Dublin garage punks punks deliver seven brilliant tracks (eight if you include the vinyl bonus of Supermum!) which snarl, spit and rail against the way we attempt to fit in and the inner turmoil that can result.

  1. Cardinals - Masquerade

If Irish guitar music is having a moment in the sun then Cork is providing alot of the sunbeds. Cardinals join the likes of The Love Buzz, I Dreamed I Dream, Cliffords, Ash Red and The Altered Hours who are all providing the soundtrack to the Irish new wave of literate, alternative guitar pop and rock. Cardinals' new single Masquerade announces their debut LP of the same name out in February 2026.

  1. Pebbledash

Another brilliant Cork band, Pebbledash mix elements of shoegaze, dream pop and traditional Irish music. They recently released new single Tiles & Moss, the first to be taken from their second EP of 2025 To Cast the Sea in Concrete which is out on November 5. You can order the EP on translucent red vinyl from the Blowtorch Records vinyl store here:
