Galway alt indie rock outfit Noble have announced their debut album The Witching Hour and released the lead single Warm Air. The album was produced by the Mercury Prize nominated singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt in his Wolf Cabin studio near Oxford in England and mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

Warm Air is the perfectly bittersweet soundtrack for a languid summer’s evening. It's a reflective and beguiling track, swooning and swaying with acoustic guitars and strings, building to an Elbow like crescendo.

Capturing the lush atmosphere of a late summer’s evening, Warm Air is shot through with bittersweet reflections and a dawning realisation that “you can be anyone you want”. Frontman and song writer Si Noble takes up the story: “Warm Air is a song about someone being in a situation or a relationship they know is at an end. They are stuck in a paralysis about doing anything about it, but the ‘warm air’ is the payoff when they summon the courage to take a step forward, and release themselves from this paralysis.”

Warm Air is the perfectly bittersweet soundtrack for a languid summer’s evening ... reflective and beguiling ... swooning and swaying with acoustic guitars and strings, building to an Elbow like crescendo.

Harcourt’s production and the arrangement, which is both full but never overwhelming, capture the push and pull of these emotions. Si again: “I’ve always been a massive fan of Ed Harcourt, so to have him work on the debut album is amazing. I took a chance and contacted him on Instagram. He liked the music I was writing and wanted to work with me. It’s been an incredible experience.”

The album brings together the contrasting elements of Noble’s songwriting - tenderness and intensity, melancholy and uplift - into a cohesive and evocative body of work. It has a sound that draws from classic influences such as The Beatles, Elbow, Elliott Smith, Blur and Father John Misty. The songs capture the fragile tension between connection and solitude, offering listeners music that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
