Slightly Dishevelled release new single Bank Account

Slightly Dishevelled, what a great name for a band by the way, have released new single Bank Account. It's the first to be taken from Dirty Dishes and the West Wing, their debut album which is set for release on 21 February 2025.

Thematically the cost of living crisis is the backdrop for Bank Account, or the lack of funds within it. The heavy bassline at the intro sets the tone before the claustrophobic soundscape continues, exuding anxiety and tension. The pounding drum suddenly explodes into a cacophony of noise, raw and raucous but somehow all hanging together - just.

The frustrations of contemporary life are exemplified in this soundscape of noise. The vocals are delivered in a heartfelt manner, this is not the place for pitch perfect notes but for a mix of words spoken, sung and to be honest, downright angsty. The imagery created within Bank Account is vivid and one which we all understand. It's a wild ride of a track, and goodness only knows what it sounds like live. Roll on the debut album.

Skinny Lister release new single Set Us Straight

On the eve of their highly anticipated UK headline tour this November/December Skinny Lister have released new single Set Us Straight. A digital-only track, Set Us Straight is an instantly catchy, sing-a-long romp that is destined to go down a storm in the wild ruckus of their live shows. It’s a rowdy, wide-eyed, drinking track that’s the perfect chaser for knocking-them-back into the early hours with your best pals.

As Dan Heptinstall explains of the track and some of the familiar characters that populate it: “Set us Straight is another Skinny Lister ode to the traditional public house, but this time it’s personal! We’ve painted a scene in the lyrics that features a bunch of good Skinny friends. The mentioned Guyer - who is a great friend as well as fan of the band - has attended well over 100 Skinny shows - now that’s dedication - cheers Guyer! Lorna is also in there dancing on the table while Billy (aka Party George’s ‘William Harker’) picks the diddle on his guitar. There’s also a nod to the delicious ‘Lorna’s Hammer’ cocktail, which was created by another good friend Scott - in honour of Lorna’s car destroying behaviour in our video ‘Devil In Me’.... it’s primarily a song about sharing some good times with good friends, and a reflection of the ongoing Skinny party. It’s also a fun track to play live - so expect to hear it in our upcoming UK Tour…”

Encapsulating their good-time energy, Set Us Straight arrives as a first hint of new music that the band have been recording recently, intended for their upcoming album number seven due next year. Following a tour across Europe supporting Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls and some headline shows of their own, the Skinnies will be back for a fresh stretch of UK shows in the run up to Christmas. Beginning on 23rd November at Bristol Thekla, the thirteen date run will round-off with a gig at London’s Scala venue on 13th December. Skinny Lister are simply the perfect antidote to the maelstrom that is contemporary life. Grab your mates and a drink and just dance to their joyous music - I dare you not to grin.

As Dan adds of what to expect on the upcoming tour: “Our end of year wouldn’t be the same without hitting the road for our annual Skinny UK Tour. And Christmas doesn’t officially start until we hit London for the Skinny Christmas bash, for which we go even bigger this year - at the amazing Scala in Kings Cross. Can’t wait to get back out there for some serious partying! We might even find space in the set to test drive a few new tracks. See you at the barrier!”
