London band Blow Dry release their new single Mighty Crimes which follows recent track MR. BIG. Mighty Crimes is a vivid, post-punk inspired song; a magnetic and distinctive sound built on nagging guitar lines and a percussive beat with leader Genevieve Welsh’s brilliant and unique, near theatrical vocal delivery. It's a fantastic look into the world of Blow Dry, managing to bottle the essence of the group’s live shows - incendiary sets that offer an aural and visual explosion for the senses.
Blow Dry is a musical project led and conceived by Genevieve Welsh. Originally from Australia she is now based in London and emerging from the fashion world with electric energy. As a band they move effortlessly between worlds, inhabiting the glamorous world of fashion as well as pushing things forward with their live shows. Blow Dry are theatrical and raw, and are building a reputation as one of the most exciting new acts in town.
Genevieve Welsh spoke about Mighty Crimes ahead of its release: “Mighty Crimes came about really quickly, in only a couple of hours. I was in LA with Jorge Elbrecht, who co-wrote the track - he had this awesome drum beat going that had me dancing about the room, and we came up with a narrative about a woman who's so sick of the corporate world that she kills her boss and goes on the run. She's a little on the unhinged side of life, and that comes out more and more as the song goes on. Maybe it was writing from a character's POV rather than a direct life experience that made it come out so quickly.
"On the surface it's a relatable laugh - ugh, I want to kill my boss - I mean, how many people have said that before?! But there are real emotions under the humour too: the freedom and release of throwing everything away and heading out into the unknown, tangled up with the anxiety of 'what have I done?' and then comes the self-talk you do to convince yourself that yes you were right to make the choices you've made ... whether you actually were or not. Or at least, that's the mental olympics my brain goes through.
"It’s such a playful track combined with the Blow Dry dark humour - as soon as we recorded it I could see the imagery - a Thelma & Louise meets Tarantino meets Priscilla, Queen of the Desert getaway film, but set in the Australian outback. An off-kilter homage to my homeland."
Mighty Crimes was co-written with Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Sky Ferreira, Angel Olsen). Blow Dry are a visual and sonic tour de force, a full sensory experience and this is captured in the videos they produce. Incredibly striking and dynamic, they help position Blow Dry as a new presence that cannot be ignored. Along with stylist Matt King, Genevieve is the brains behind the club night Tainted Pleasure, a glammed up Blitz Club-inspired night held in The Social in London.

Fresh from appearances at 2000trees, Back Doune The Rabbit Hole and TRUCK Festivals, feminist feral theatre-punks Twat Union return with new summer banger TV BIKINY out now via Alcopop! Records. The six piece are also pleased to announce a very special London co-headline show with Northern Irish labelmates Problem Patterns for 10 October at The Lexington.
On the show, the band say: “The twats are SO excited to share the stage with Problem Patterns at The Lexington in October. We'll be bringing even more props and even more outfit changes!”
Recorded by the band’s Kate Mac and producer Jonny Firth, TV BIKINY was mixed by Jonny Firth and mastered by Izzy McPhee, and is an ode to letting it all hang out when it feels like the world is telling you to tuck it in.
Commenting on the new single, vocalist Kate Mac says: “TV BIKINY is about body standards, and the absolute joy of sprawling on the sofa watching gloriously trashy TV. It’s our version of a summer banger, and it’s about doing absolutely nothing. It’s also poking at that weird gap between how comfy we feel in our bodies when we’re lounging around at home versus when we have to take those same bodies out into the world. We want everyone to smuggle a bit of that sofa confidence into real life.”
Another knowingly wry cut of anti-patriarchal protest punk from the sextet, the new track is the first new material from the band since May 2026 single Period Sex, taken from Twat Union’s latest EP, Don’t Blame The Peach, which was released earlier this year via Alcopop! Records.
