Galway noisy punks Slyrydes release new single 'One Is Too Many'.

After their debut album in 2025, Slyrydes are back with the first single of 2026 One Is Too Many leading to a new album.
After the release of their debut album What Happens If You Get Happy in 2025, Slyrydes didn't rest on their laurels. With Dan Doherty, from Darklands recording studio in Dublin, installed as the band's official drummer, Slyrydes went back to writing music and now make an emphatic return with new single One Is Too Many.
The band are working on songs for their second album and will be releasing new singles in the lead up to its release.
They have always spoken with conviction and passion about real issues, especially the mental health crisis that exists in Ireland. The new single addresses this explicitly and candidly; both in the self-awareness that being sober is simultaneously critical but can also feel like no craic, and in the haunting spoken word sections which close out the track.
Bass player Eoin takes up the story: “This single came from one of Dan's ideas, it’s cool for us to adapt and to learn how to create in different ways; we all came into the studio on our own and added to the song in our own ways. I think doing this song this way was a cool way to convey the introspection that comes with recovery.”
Slyrydes released their first batch of singles between 2018 and 2021, and their debut album, What Happens If You Get Happy? in July 2025 on 12" Blowtorch vinyl record. They speak with conviction and passion about real issues, especially the mental health crisis that exists in Ireland. The band members themselves have lived through addiction and are currently carving a new path through recovery, using therapy informed dynamics.
