Copenhagen trio Farveblind share the title track from their debut album Micro Pleasures, out 15 May. Produced by Farveblind and mixed by Swedish engineer Gustav Brunn (whose credits include work with Yung Lean and Viagra Boys), Farveblind's debut album features a cast of contributors and guest vocalists including Django Django, k.flay, Elliphant, USERS, Foreign Air and Emmeline.

With sonic touchstones ranging from Battles and The Chemical Brothers to Underworld and Viagra Boys, Farveblind's forthcoming debut album Micro Pleasures pulls together punk volatility, industrial precision, rave nostalgia and widescreen electronic drama into the same gravitational field.  New single and album title track Micro Pleasures is built on pounding four-on-the-floor rhythms, driving bass lines, and sweeping, floating strings, echoing the raw physicality of a late-90s club era. The track also features in new film Shelter, starring Jason Statham, soundtracking a pivotal club sequence.

Featuring Copenhagen artist Sebastian Monti, the song cuts at ego, entitlement, and the urge to fit neatly into ready-made boxes, where meaning is reduced to small, fleeting moments.  On the song, guest vocalist Sebastian Monti shared: “It’s the anger towards ego idiots fitting nicely into boxes this capitalistic society made for them and then feeling unique and entitled. Just live and let others live. No-one cares about any single thing anymore. It's all about surviving.”

Known for blurring the line between live chaos and club ecstasy, Farveblind’s performances have lit up festivals including Roskilde, Reeperbahn and Eurosonic in recent months. With the release of their debut album, the trio are sure to cement themselves as one of the most thrilling forces emerging from Copenhagen’s electronic underground.

Bristol maths rock band Maebe release new single Brain Paint

Bristol math-rock innovators Maebe are pleased to announce that they have signed to Ripcord Records, with new single Brain Paint released alongside a fittingly colourful official music video. The single is the first look at a forthcoming new body of work from the band coming later this year.

A celebration of instrumental rock in all its forms, Brain Paint melds guitar virtuosity with addictive melodies and cinematic post-rock dynamics. It marks the studio debut of Maebe’s new five-piece lineup, bottling the energetic performances that have won over audiences in opening slots for the likes of Intervals, Alpha Male Tea Party, Poly-Math and Standards, as well as a packed-out stage at ArcTanGent Festival.

Brain Paint is a bombastic riff fest – it’s a pretty bold statement of intent, but it’s fun and heartfelt, too,” says band leader and virtuoso guitarist Mike Astley-Brown. “Everyone in the band listens to a lot of instrumental music, and I don’t think any of us have heard anything quite like this.”

Maebe began as band leader Mike’s bedroom solo project alongside juggling his guitar journalist day job. His 2020 debut was released with no fanfare, and no promotion. It was a passion project, purely for the love of playing, and to see if he could accomplish a long-held dream of releasing his own music. Six years on, Maebe has evolved into one of the UK’s most exciting math-rock prospects.
