Following the announcement of their new album God Save The Gun set for release on 17 October via Loma Vista Recordings, Militarie Gun share new single Throw Me Away, a melodic anthem which showcases vocalist and primary songwriter Ian Shelton’s distinct talent for mixing hyper-energetic songwriting with heavy lyrical content in a way that hits that much harder. The new single is accompanied by a performance video directed by Shelton.

Speaking about the meaning behind the new single, Shelton shares: “Throw Me Away is about the feeling of only being valued when you’re visible or useful and the desperate need to hold onto that. What someone loves about you one day might be cited as a reason they hate you now. It’s the desire for external validation and also the deep resentment of it.”

Additionally, Militarie Gun announce their headline Europe and UK dates with support from White Reaper and Spite House, today. The EU / UK tour will kick off 21 January in Portugal, Porto and wrap up on 17 February in Dublin, Ireland.

God Save The Gun is a very human document of being at your worst when you should be on top of the world – an absurdist guide to the intersection of self-destruction and self-belief. "I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album,” Shelton says. “But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it. Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.”

Despite all of the inner turmoil leading to God Save The Gun, Shelton and his bandmates, guitarists William Acuña and Kevin Kiley, bassist Waylon Trim and drummer David Stalsworth, rose to the challenge of following up Militarie Gun’s acclaimed debut. Stalsworth, Trim and Kiley all joined during Life Under The Gun’s extensive touring cycle after a series of member shakeups that would cripple most bands, but only made Militarie Gun stronger.

Drummer-fronted psych-punk quartet Wax Head release new single Clatter Coats via cult label/promoter Sour Grapes (SLAP RASH, YAANG, Oral Habit).

A sprawling composition of shattering accelerations, lysergic breakdowns and psyched out synths, it depicts “sinister, tunnel-dwelling creatures”. Clatter Coats encapsulates the band's wild live shows, which return later this month with a series of headline tour dates across the UK.

Recorded with long-term collaborator Borja Regueira at Manchester’s GLUE Studio, and mastered by Melbourne’s Joe Carra (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Amyl and The Sniffers), 'Clatter Coats is intended as a wilder companion piece to April single Terminal Sinker, as the band explain: “Clatter Coats acts as a second part to our previous single, contrasting its tight two-minute punk energy with an extended freeform jam born out of our live shows. It blends synth arpeggiators, roto-toms and guitar drones, with lyrics that depict sinister, tunnel-dwelling creatures.”

Wax Head's visceral live shows have inspired such feverish manias that a fan once got up onto the stage and rammed their head through the kick drum mid-show (a moment immortalised on the cover of last year’s single Rusty Cutter). You have been warned!
