Following their debut EP SEXY, TADHG is the second part of SexyTadhg's artistic introduction. It details their musical background, rooted in Irish traditional music and offers a chance to look behind the curtain of their persona at a time before they established that confidence. It's a tribute to Tadhg's heritage, spending summers in their Dad’s ancestral home in the Gaeltacht region of West Kerry and as well as a childhood, growing up in Carlow, their mothers hometown. As they say "In a way, SexyTadhg is a reflection of those two parental pillars in my life, the extrovert and introvert, the yin and yang, the 'Sexy' and the 'Tadhg'."

TADHG will release on streaming platforms on May 28 along with a hot pink vinyl record available via Blowtorch Records.

Side A (of the vinyl record) starts with an acapella track of Róisín Dubh. "I wanted to pay homage to the Irish traditional artform of Sean-Nós and the icons of the genre like Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh whose kindness and talent inspire me to continue my study of the style and thus deepen my connection to my own heritage."

It continues with The Slag of Carlow Town and Townie Girl; tunes which recontextualise original traditional reels and jigs through a distinctly feminine lens. Placing the overlooked female identies of Ireland on the pedestal they deserve. Tadhg continues "These tunes are inspired by my love for artist’s like The Mary Wallopers and Biird who allowed me to place my own identity into trad music and reconnect with a musical genre I felt so distant from."

Side B takes a more vulnerable tone with Therapist’s Knife, a trad/pop/rock anthem reminiscent of 2000’s icons like Avril Lavigne and the Corrs. It shares the often painful path to healing and leaving behind harmful patterns of behaviour through seeking medical and psychological support.

This poignant tone is carried through to the final track Lavender Corcra. It was written during a residency on Cape Clear Island and is shrouded by themes of death, rebirth and supernatural entities. With a dynamic and experimental production that spans several genres, all climaxing to a soaring finale that blasts open the door of possibilities for future projects. Leaving the listener questioning … ”what will come next?”
