London via Dublin duo Nixer dial down the BPM and ramp up the politics on the first single Freedom from a run of new releases
Single: Freedom
Band: Nixer
Released: May 8 2026

Freedom is an unflinching political statement from Nixer. Written and co-produced by Seán Keenan and Colin Moir in their Southeast London studio, the track marks a shift in the Nixer sound, leaning into a darker, more abrasive edge that has always simmered beneath their synth-punk aesthetic.
It’s a song that confronts the current political climate head-on, explicitly addressing the genocide in Palestine while voicing a stark, almost desperate call for “peace in the Middle East.” Although only recently written in January 2026, its themes feel even more urgent now, as the world continues to tilt into deeper unrest.
Describing the track, lyricist Seán Keenan states: “It's different. I'm finding my voice and speaking on it politically. It's my favourite song I've written.. Yet. It’s also the slowest Nixer track ever and our first track under 100BPM.
“We played it live in Berlin the week after it was finished, it caused a stir amongst the crowd but it was also played on Refuge Worldwide by 2 different DJs since then… you can’t please everyone and you shouldn’t. I think I’m really starting to realise that now about my songwriting and it’s extremely liberating. I’ve never felt more conscious about my lyricism, but I’m very glad I stuck with what feels right in my heart.. Free Palestine!”
The collaboration between Keenan and Moir has grown out of their shared studio space in Deptford, where a hands-on, hardware-driven setup packed with synths, vocal racks, and guitars, has become a testing ground for new ideas. Freedom is the first official release from this partnership, capturing the raw energy of two artists pushing each other into new territory, and setting the tone for what’s to come from Nixer.
Colin Moir, who produced Freedom with Nixer wrote: “Freedom is the result of one of those elusive moments when an idea just clicks and quickly blooms on its own into something exemplary. As a producer, I was keen to capture the raw, unapologetic energy of Nixer’s live shows in the studio and continue to honour Nixer’s dedication to speaking truth to power in both lyrics and music.
"What started as a lean march of thudding drums and synth bass in lockstep, eventually grew wings into a song of protest and introspection, a collaborative effort we’re both very proud of.”

Emerging from the dual cities of London and Dublin, Nixer is the electric collaboration lead by Seán Keenan. It's a project born from isolation, now pulsing with the energy of the dancefloor. Blending the raw immediacy of post-punk with the synth-driven aesthetics of new wave and electro, Nixer crafts a sound that’s both nostalgic and forward-thinking, a unique brand of “Éire Wave” that is distinctly their own.
