After making their vinyl debut in December 2025 with their SEES BANSHEES IN THE TREES/COLONEL FLAB DREAM double A side 7" single, Galway's The GOPNIKS return with their debut album on 12" vinyl The Blah Biz Cabaret.
Almost 1 hour of menace on crackling vinyl with 11 bangers containing popular singles Sees Banshees in the Trees and newly adapted Ben Cash & the White Cats
Described as ‘Tom Waits on speed’ by Phil Strongman, author of Metal Box: Stories from John Lydon’s PiL, The GOPNIKS are an alt-rock quintet that emerged in 2022 from the Galway underground scene.
The GOPNIKS’ sound is grounded in early rock 'n' roll infusing the raw energy of Gene Vincent, 1950s Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Link Wray with a beat-based intertexture of psychobilly, funkadelic and avant-punk.
Their adrenalised intricate guitar rhythms and futuristic synth melodies are anchored on the bottom level by darkwave bass lines and staccato percussion.
Through the meshwork of this densely layered, highly structured soundscape, frontman Ben Cash weaves his sinister, Beefheartian fever dream narratives.
