Wifeswap is the Dublin based project of Offaly native Joe Brody. Bosman Ruling is the first track taken from their forthcoming debut EP five track Digging and was recorded by Michael Bell in Start Together Studio in Belfast.

On the single, Joe says "Bosman Ruling is really just a song about the detachment and numbness that I feel at the beginning of grieving. In an EP that is really all about grief in its many forms and facets, it serves as a starting point for exploring those ideas around falling out of touch with your own identity and developing quite unhealthy coping mechanisms”.

Joe’s vocals on the track are accompanied by a restless sounding drum ‘n’ bass-style beat, as well as by Jasper’s exquisitely melodic guitar riffs. He continues "It's one of our oldest songs and it was the first that we started working on in the studio. It all fell into place super quickly. For me it's the best introduction to the themes and sounds of the EP and I think it shows a more tender side to us compared to our early singles."

Wifeswap comprises Joe (vocals, guitar, songwriting), Jasper Ryan (guitar), Cian Bates (bass) and Lorcan Connolly (drums), all from different parts of the country, finding their way together in college in Dublin. Their first single, Inertia spoke about isolation and loneliness, with dissonant guitars and a spoken-word delivery. Their 7’’ double A-side record Spiritus Mundi/Happy Days, which was accompanied by a sold-out Whelan’s upstairs show, was a testament to their DIY ethos and electric live sound.

Combining art rock and literary influences, Wifeswap debuted in October 2022 at a sold-out Workman’s Cellar gig. Since then, they’ve taken to the main stage at Whelan’s Ones to Watch festival and multiple times at The Workman’s Club bank holiday events curated by Trevor Dietz (Manager, Fontaines D.C.), carving their niche in the independent Dublin scene.
