Bassist and vocalist Lachlan Ó Fionnáin has made public his difficult decision as he leaves rising punk trio Adore while they prepare to release their debut EP BITER

As Adore prepare to release their debut EP BITER with UK independent label Big Scary Monsters on September 26, the sad news has come that bassist and backing vocalist Lachlan Ó Fionnáin has decided to leave the band. 'Locky' is one of the soundest people I know, has been a fundamental part of the success of this super tight trio and always so supportive of Blowtorch Records. When you read his reasons though, it's clear he is making the right decision.
He released the news via a statement on Instagram:
"As is unfortunately so often the case in band resignations, it has been a mammoth task the last while balancing creativity and gigging with working and renting, especially being based in Galway while we generally rehearsed, wrote and recorded in Dublin.
When combined with gigging and having to take many days off work, the financial, physical and mental side of things are often tough to keep healthy, and I’d like to thank the team for their support during times when these stresses were more acute.
When I came home after the last stint of shows, I realised although the band and the songs were and will always be so important to my life thus far, there is no reason to put yourself through things that will only end up harming you down the line. It is not heroic or admirable to struggle and suffer for your art, and in fairness .... other people can play bass! Bands rely on at least some level of comfort to allow ideas to flourish and lower levels of stress, with these factors taken into my consideration I believe it is best for the band to move on with someone else. I feel it’s best for the future of the band to have someone who can commit to the group with more ease.
It has been a phenomenal experience, and one I’ll look back on so fondly. I look forward to seeing how the guys strive forward, and I’m so grateful to have worked with such a thoughtful, compassionate, and considerate team.
It really always is the bassist huh?
Go raibh míle mhaith agaibh,
Agus Grá mhór i gconaí."
