Rosemary is the new single from Dublin's shapeshifting, genre hopping iNNUENDO. Previous singles have referenced artists as diverse as Sparks, Cocteau Twins and Bowie. Now with Rosemary they somehow retain elements of all that and simultaneously deliver a joyous pop banger that is completely of the moment.

this is pure pop brilliance with a shout along chorus worthy of Yeah Yeah Yeahs or CMAT. For all their art rock leanings they sure have infectious melodies in their bones.

The opening piano riff is English Teacher adjacent and, with sparse drums, the verse leads one to wonder just where the song might go. The swift arrival of the chorus soon tells us - this is pure pop brilliance with a shout along chorus worthy of Yeah Yeah Yeahs or CMAT. For all their art rock leanings they sure have infectious melodies in their bones. That should come as no surprise after the 'stellar, skyscraping' chorus of 2024 single don't ask away.

The second verse showcases their knack for taking the road less travelled as the opening piano motif is now echoed by a dazzling wall of arpeggiators injecting a driving sense of dancefloor energy and vibrancy. Did someone say LCD Soundsystem?

Speaking about the single, the band explain: “Rosemary was inspired by one of our bandmate’s old piano teachers, who was awful to him. Noodling around with piano motifs, the song came together almost instantly, expanding once we crafted the cutting synth line after the first chorus - that really cemented the dance-y groove underneath. Lyrically, it’s about the sting of resentment and disappointment when a close friend turns on you, talks behind your back, and leaves you blindsided. Everyone has experienced that betrayal, and this song is about cutting out those kinds of people and moving into a better space - ‘new world is coming through, the old is booted out with you.’

"Recording it was special: our head lecturer overheard us playing it in the college practice rooms and offered us free studio time, saying the idea was too strong to waste. We tracked it in our college studio with that same sense of spontaneity - it’s energetic, cheeky, and bold, like shaking off the negativity and stepping into something brighter.”
