Croydon queer electro-pop outfit Bugeye have released their new single This Is What I Want. Following a slate of recent high profile support slots with The Datsuns, Loose Articles, The Ordinary Boys, Dodgy, snake eyes and cheerbleederz, the band also announce a run of November 2026 support dates with Millie Manders & The Shutup.
This Is What I Want is the latest track to be taken from Bugeye’s second album The Shape of Things which is out now via new label home INH Records (Fightmilk). The new single is a middle finger to outdated expectations of women, it's about refusing to be controlled, told to stay quiet, or expected to make yourself smaller just to keep someone else happy.
This Is What I Want calls out the pressure to be the "perfect woman", to look good, keep the house, say yes, don't complain, and put a man's needs before your own. At the same time, it takes aim at fragile male egos that expect women to be trophies, servants, or accessories. At its core, it's a loud, angry, no-nonsense anthem about demanding respect, owning your voice, and refusing to live by anyone else's rules all delivered with the humour and hooks which Bugeye are known for.
“We wrote This Is What I Want as a response to the rise of the trad wife movement and the toxic manosphere that's trying to drag women backwards,” says vocalist Angela Martin. “It's insane that in 2026 we're still having to explain that women aren't here to serve men's egos. This Is What I Want is deliberately simple because the message shouldn't be difficult to understand: respect women. We're not dolls. We're not trophies. We're not here to make ourselves smaller so someone else can feel bigger.
"This song is for every woman who's ever been told to know her place. Here's the truth: your place is wherever you choose to stand. Stand tall, stand loud, and never apologise for demanding the respect you've always deserved."
Produced by Angela Martin of Bugeye and mixed by Dan Lucas (The Subways, Bob Vylan), the single was mastered by Katie Tavini (Rudimental, Arlo Parks, Los Bitchos).

London collective HMLTD (Theo Spark, Andrei Martynchyk, Henry Spychalski, Duc Peterman) today return with new single Blitzkrieg, their first new music since their 2023 album, The Worm.
Mixed by Nicos Kennedy (Machine Girl, Femtanyl), Blitzkrieg is an abrasive and confrontational thrill ride before collapsing into its melancholic coda. The band continue to delight in confounding listener expectations whilst at a new forefront of experimental and ground-breaking pop music. The accompanying video delights in exploring the new visual identity which the band inhabit. They will perform an underplay at Club Cheek, London on 26 October with more dates to be announced.
On 'Blitzkrieg' HMLTD share: "Blitzkrieg is our first single in three years, and a reinstatement of intent and the values which defined our early manifesto: it is a return to radical experimentation, violent confrontation, and music as revolt."
Born in the club, Blitzkrieg is the clarion call of a new sound, which the band call GÖTHERDÄMMERUNG, or ÜberGöth. In the cybernetic sprawl of AI, hyperreality and techno-capital acceleration, GÖTHERDÄMMERUNG is a form of gothic insurrection which resurrects the ghosts that modernity attempted to bury: plague pits, witches, ruined castles, vampires, as a means of understanding and mapping the new demons created by capital.
