French garage/punk outfit Technopolice reveal their second single Sortir Le Soir... taken from their debut album out in September via Howlin’ Banana Records, Idiotape and Ganache Records.

There is a definite movement of punk inspired bands emerging from France right now. Technopolice is a fast and off-kilter quartet, bringing together musicians from a host of other rising French indie bands, including La Flemme, Flathead, Avenoir. The band caught fire in 2024 after attending a few memorable shows as simple spectators. Just a handful of gigs were enough to ignite the spark. The band drew inspiration from the garage/punk/egg punk scene led by Australian, German, and Spanish acts like R.M.F.C, Autobahns, Ghoulies, Prison Affair and Seggs Tape (also check out the magnificent Why Bother! from Iowa - Ed).

New single Sortir Le Soir... (the title translates to “Going out at night”) follows debut track Hellastic Mr Pox. It is frantic, edgy and fizzes along. The twanging guitar is such fun with a slight warble to it which adds to the energy of the track. At one point it is set free to take off on its own path. The bounce towards the end with the drums crashing in are full of exuberant zest. This is garage punk and it's an absolute riot.

Technopolice question if partying becomes routine, does the thrill still hold up? I'll leave you to decide, meanwhile I'm off to check out their first single too!

Newcastle's TV Death today release their latest single Lease of Life taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Neon Dreamland due out 21 August on Dogged Sound Records.

Frontman Jack Burlison explains: "Lease of Life was born in the cracks between exhaustion and hope. At the time, I was caught in the grind of a job that left me hollow. Late nights, long commutes, and a growing sense that I was drifting further from any real purpose. Everyone around me seemed to be moving forward, while I felt stuck, quietly rebelling against the idea that your worth is defined by your job.

"What kept me going was writing. I remember, in the middle of the chaotic, last-minute prepping for our last EP's music videos, paint probably spattered across my face, a half finished prop in hand, I picked up my guitar, and the riff just spilled out like a breath I didn't know I was holding. The verses echo lyrics from an old demo about the monotony of consumerism and work, an apt reflection of how I had felt. But in the chorus, that weight lifts. Those same words take on a brighter meaning, giving them a new lease of life. It's a song about reclaiming purpose, finding meaning beyond what the world tells you should matter and discovering your own 'Lease of Life' in the most unexpected places."

Emerging from the vibrant music scene of the North East of England, the quartet has been captivating audiences with their visceral sound and thought-provoking lyrics, reminiscent of the sensual anarchy of bands like The Cramps and The Birthday Party. Lease of Life winds up the electronics before the guitar riffs and pounding drum beats dive in. The vocal is so animated, completely capitvating, grabbing attention and never letting go. They blend post-punk, psychedelic and garage rock to create their own sound, and to be frank one to see live, no question.
