As Dublin art pop band iNNUENDO return with their first single release of 2026, Sizing Up, we get the lowdown from front woman Nora Ronan on five seminal albums which are influences on her music
Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love
This is fantastic from start to finish. Big hitters to start, with Hounds Of Love, The Big Sky and Cloudbusting, and the beautiful suite “The Ninth Wave” placing you in a dark sea floating away at night; it never gets old. Her production really makes you wish for more in your own music!
David Bowie - Station to Station
One of Bowie's best, there's no lull to this album. With Earl Slick on guitar and the feeling of funk running throughout, it was written in the midst of his thin white duke era. Golden Years is one of my favourite all time songs by him, and Wild is the Wind touches places inside I rarely dare to go. There’s no need to justify Bowie's exuberance here.
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
A teenage favourite of mine, walking through Phoenix Park during crisp winter days as the sun rose shaped my concept of melodies and the unimportance of coherent lyrics. The sparkling vocal and guitar layers enveloped me on those cold mornings.
Electric Light Orchestra - Out of the Blue
A classic with several hits, the arrangements on this album makes you aspire for greatness in musicality. The production value on top of the attention to detail in songwriting makes this one of the greats.
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
A perfect dance album, starting with the angular beats of Get Innocuous!, middling with the bittersweet embrace of Someone Great and ending with a downer with New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down. This grouping of banger after banger has filled my head with synth ideas and drum beats, and inspired me to write for the dancefloor.
